We had a blast at Anna Maria island about 30 minutes south of Tampa Bay on Florida’s Gulf Coast. This was in December 2009.
Welcome to our site. We have been together 15 years this July. We met at the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, spent about three years in Michigan and have been in Atlanta for almost 11 years.
More than 12 years ago, we began thinking about getting pregnant. That has included picking out several donors (more about that later), lots of pricks with needles for blood tests, ultrasounds (mostly internal. ’nuff said about that), countless miles on the cars to and from doctors visits, even more emotional ups and downs and who knows how much money. BUT, it’s all paid off!
We want to share with our family, friends and others how we got to where we are.
We truly believe that the Little One (name so far) is going to be one of the most loved children. We have great friends and family and can’t wait (OK, we can wait until November, our due date) to have himher meet this world.

Bird is a little crazy, but this is what he would look like if he would let us take a picture of him.
P.S. You might wonder where the bird in “2girlsababyandabird” comes in. Well, I (Karen) have had parakeets my entire life, and Lisa and I have had them throughout our time together. So we (OK, our friend Joanne suggested the name) thought it was only fitting that we include the bird. The first one we had was named after a former guard (Rex Walters) for the University of Kansas basketball team. The second was named for a former Detroit Red Wings and Atlanta Thrashers player (Slava Kozlov). The next one was named by our friend Myria because she thought he looked like Mountain Dew (Dewey), and now we’ve run out of names, so our bird now is called Bird.
